On October 12, DebtBook becomes Monetary, the treasury platform built for government and nonprofit finance, used by more than 2,000 organizations across the country. The company, the team and the platform you rely on are all the same; what's new is a name that reflects the full range of work our clients do with us, from debt and leases to cash and investments. The questions below cover what the change means for you.
About the change
Why did DebtBook change its name?
DebtBook was built in 2019 to give the public sector better tools for managing debt. Our clients then asked for more: lease and subscription accounting for GASB 87, GASB 96 and ASC 842, and later cash and investment management to forecast, position and deploy their money. The platform grew with them, and "DebtBook" stopped describing the full scope of our work. Monetary does.
Is Monetary the same company as DebtBook?
Yes. Ownership, leadership, team and software are all unchanged. Our legal name has changed from Fifth Asset, Inc. to Monetary, Inc., and our tax ID (EIN) stays the same.
Using Monetary
Does anything change in how we use the platform?
No. Debt management, lease and SBITA accounting, and all your data, saved workflows and reports work exactly as they do today. From October 12 you will see the Monetary name and logo in the platform and on reports you generate. Figures and calculation methods don't change, and reports you exported earlier stay as they were.
Does our login or support contact change?
Sign in at app.monetaryhq.com. The old address will redirect for a while to give you time to adjust, but please update your bookmarks as soon as possible. Usernames, passwords and permissions stay the same, and so do your account team and support contacts.
Does our IT team need to update anything?
Our emails and platform notifications now come from @monetaryhq.com domain, so add it to your allowlist if your organization uses one. If you had SSO configured for your organization please reach out to the support team at support@monetaryhq.com for help getting that updated.
Contracts and billing
Does our pricing or contract change?
No. Your contract remains in force with the same rates and terms, now and at renewal, and there's nothing to re-sign. If your procurement rules require an amendment or a vendor name-change form, send it to ar@monetaryhq.com and we will complete it.
What do we need to update in our vendor records?
Update our vendor name to Monetary, Inc. Our EIN and banking information stay the same, so keep paying invoices as you do today. Your AP team will receive a vendor packet by mail, with an updated W-9 and a letter confirming the name change. Auditors can use that letter to connect the two names across reporting periods.
Security
Does the name change affect data security?
Your data security stays exactly as strict as always, backed by the same SOC 2 Type 1 & 2 protections. You can request these at trust.monetaryhq.com.
What role does AI play in managing our funds?
No. Marty, our AI analyst, works only from the data in your Monetary system of record, and every insight it provides traces back to your organization's source records. Marty doesn't act on its own: a person on your team reviews and approves every action.
How can we tell an email from Monetary is genuine?
Our emails come from @monetaryhq.com. Our banking details are not changing, and we will never ask you by email to change bank accounts, payment details or remittance information, or to share passwords. If you receive a request like that, don't act on it. Call your account manager using a phone number you already have on file, or contact support@monetaryhq.com.
